Dr. Paul Syltie is a well-known American biostimulatant researcher and soil science expert. And yet – he is a poet, author of books on the philosophy of life and theology. We had the opportunity to interview him for a brief interview at the annual conference held by the Agro Expert Group of Companies Vitazyme – a biostimulatant of growth in your profits, held in Odessa in late February.
Among agricultural professionals and scientists, Dr. Paul Syltie is known as the author of How Soils Work – a guide to the coexistence of plants and soils on mutually beneficial terms, such as super-complex and interdependent associations (ratios) in rhizospheric soils , feeds and fibers that are important to civilization. Paul is also the editor of The Vital Earth News. Married. He has six children and twelve grandchildren.
SuperAgronom.com: Dr. Syltie, you started out as a farmer, then went into science. Can the two be combined?
Paul Syltie: Right now, I’m mostly into research. But in my heart I’m still a farmer. My father once told me that you first need to get an education, but you can always go back to farming – if you want. I think he advised me that way at the time, because he knew that it was very difficult work, with considerable expenses, and it was difficult to earn large sums of money. So I followed his advice. And after receiving his master’s degree he returned to work on the ground. But nothing changed during my studies. I only lasted a year and finally decided to go back to university.

SuperAgronom.com: Lastly, it is interesting to hear your opinion – how exhaustive is the scientific research that can further improve cultivation technologies?
Paul Syltie: A good question, but it’s hard to answer. The problem is that we are limited by a lot of factors. Environmental conditions, rainfall, solar radiation and more. At the same time, the main thing we have to work on and we cannot make any compromises is the quality of the crop. Your question may have been about more theoretical research, but in our case, more relevant is applied. There is another question. I believe that large changes in conditions are expected on the planet in general – in the intensity of solar radiation, the amount of moisture, even in terms of gravity and magnetic fields. Together, all these factors can significantly increase agricultural production, which is not surprising …
